Classification of artificial leather

2024-10-12 19:59

Artificial leather is generally classified according to the synthetic resin used:
The first type is PVC (polyvinyl chloride), which produces water, carbon dioxide, and chlorinated compounds after combustion, and even produces chlorine gas;
The second type is PE (polyethylene), which theoretically only produces water and carbon dioxide after full combustion;
The third and most common type is called PU leather (polyurethane), whose products after full combustion include water, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and a small amount of nitrogen-containing compounds.
Due to the different synthetic resins used, types of substrates, production processes, foaming and applications, synthetic leather can be divided into many types. Artificial leather is now classified according to the synthetic resin used, production process methods, and purposes.
